Guys. People are talking about this place. Not just local people, either.
Like she said, it’s less than a thirty minute drive from Lubbock. You’ll easily find it right there in the square.
The renovated building is so charming and welcoming. As you walk in, you’re greeted by a long bar with plenty of room for several people to participate in a wine tasting. There are a couple of high top tables as you make your way back to the main room which really feels like eight or nine mini-living rooms. (I call them mini-living rooms because it’s that comfortable and inviting. Just please, don’t take your shoes off. This isn’t your house!) There are options of couches, comfy chairs, a couple of regular tables, a high top table… each mini-living room has a lamp for mood lighting. If you’re lucky and visited on the right night, there may or may not be a musician set up in the corner. Whether you’re a party of two or group of six, there will be space for you to sit back and relax!
After a tasting, stay and enjoy a glass or bottle. Psst… if you buy a bottle, they waive the tasting fee. Along with your wine, enjoy the very popular artichoke dip with bread or a variety of chocolate truffles. This isn’t your typical tasting room that closes at 5:00 p.m… they are open until 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights and boast live music those nights too.
Oh, right. The wine! While we enjoyed tasting all of the wines (we did miss the absent Malbec… read more about that in a minute), we were super impressed by the Pinot Grigio. It was just so good! For a red blend, we suggest Intersection. If you like sweeter wines, Tryst (the cellars’ Blush) was also delicious.
The only reason we were a tad bummed after our two hour visit was because we couldn’t try their Malbec. You see, it won a bunch of awards out in California and became so super popular that they’re having to limit their remaining supply. (This goes for tastings as well.) But if you become a wine club member, you are able to get a bottle! The club is free to join and you’re able to choose from a 3-bottle or 6-bottle shipment/pick-up each quarter. As another perk, you also will get a 10% discount on wine purchases in-store and online.
Live in Lubbock but want to really enjoy yourself on your night out? Don’t worry about driving… leave it to Lubbock Shuttle. They are now providing transportation for groups of 10+ on Friday and Saturday evenings. The shuttle will leave Lubbock at 6:00 p.m. and return shortly after 10:00 p.m. The cost is $35/person. There are discounts and group rates — get more information here.
Side note for the nerds like me: They have a really neat A/C system. The vent hooks up to the fan… the airflow turns the blades… which pushes the air out. Never seen anything quite like it! Here’s a visual, lest you think I’m nutty:
Follow them on Facebook so you can stay in the loop about all of the fun events they host! If you just have to get a bottle and can’t make the short drive over to Levelland, Trilogy Cellars is sold at The Wine Nest on 98th and Slide.
