1.    La Diosa Cellars

La Diosa is definitely one of the best date spots in Lubbock.  I like to go on a date where I can eat, drink, and be entertained all in the same place. La Diosa does just that. You and your date can enjoy various wines or my personal favorite, a pitcher of sangria. The food ranges from salads and cheese platters to tapas and pizza. The lighting is dim and the décor is very unique.  On a first date? This is good place to break the ice and relax. Enjoy live music while talking over a few drinks. Impress your date at the end of the night by ordering the Sinful Chocolate Truffle Cake; you won’t regret it! Click here for a full write-up.LaDiosa1

2.    Pecan Grill-Overton

The Pecan Grill is pretty fancy for a first date, so I would recommend this place to the battle-tested couples. Leave the kids at home, book a room, and enjoy a date at the Overton. The Pecan Grill offers unique dishes that you will not find elsewhere. I call it “big city” food because you don’t generally find Grilled Wild Duck Sausage in Lubbock. Don’t let that scare you though. They do have classics that most are more comfortable with eating. The bar is just off to the side and offers liquors, beers, and wines. There is a pool and Jacuzzi and the Overton is close to shopping and the football stadium. Make a whole weekend of the date! Click here for a full write-up.

3.    Stars and Stripes Drive-In

Looking for a little bit more low key option? Try the Stars and Stripes Drive-In. It is different from the typical date. The 50’s style café has a great food and dessert options on hand, so that takes care of the food! You can also bring in your own treats. There is a mini park and live music (sometimes) to enjoy before the movie starts. There is just something so classic about a date at the Drive-In theatre! Bring some blankets to sit outside or cozy up in your car. You just can’t beat $7 for TWO movies! The theatre has three screens and is open Friday-Sunday. Follow them on Facebook for new releases and movie info.

4.    First Friday Art Trail

This is one of the most popular events in the LBK and makes for a fun date. A complimentary trolley will take you from venue to venue to view art, drink, eat, and listen to live music. Some of the venues include the Buddy Holly Center, McPherson Cellars, LHUCA, and the Lubbock Arts Alliance. A lot of the venues will provide free wine/beer and snacks. Also, Crusty’s Wood Fired Pizza is also likely to make an appearance and I promise, you don’t want to miss their pizza. Dinner and movie is a cliché date, so “WOW” your date with a visit to the First Friday Art Trail. Want more information? Click here.

5.    Mackenzie Park

“You and me go fishin’ in the dark, lyin’ on our backs and countin’ the stars.” Ahh yes an outdoor adventure. Wait till it gets dark, grab some fishing poles, and take your date to the bridge. I have some friends who told me about this and I thought it was a great idea. You have a lot of options on this kind of date. Have a picnic, drinks, music, a game, or anything to make the date fun and memorable.  You can even bring your date during the day. It is Lubbock’s largest recreational area with golf, disc golf, amusement park, horse trails, and a sculpture garden. Click here for more information.
