Stella’s Restaurant & Deli, located at 4646 50th St. (50th and Utica), is the place in Lubbock to eat modern New York Italian food in an elegant atmosphere. Sixteen years ago, Billy Rizo brought the family business here from, you guessed it, New York. The restaurant originally opened in 1998 right across from the Texas Tech campus. It wasn’t until 2001 that they moved to their current location.
Stella’s offers up great food, a beautiful lounge complete with TVs and a fireplace, patio seating for beautiful evenings, and live music on weekends. The menu includes sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, seafood, good red meats, and fantastic desserts! Between the two of us, we got a burger and pizza and shared an appetizer of mozzarella sticks. Everything tasted great and we were really impressed with our first experience at Stella’s. There is also a lunch menu that we hear is very good! The Sunday brunch is top-notch. If you are a fan of waffles and breakfast pizza then you need to come here on a Sunday.
After dinner, we opted for lounge seats for a couple of drinks. They had football on the big TVs but instead of loud audio like you would find in a sports bar, we enjoyed the tunes of Jenni Dale Lord live.
Looking for a place with private dining? Stella’s has a private dining room to accommodate up to 90 people. Click here for more info. It is a great room for birthdays and family gatherings. They also offer catering for any event.
We experienced wonderful service at our two-top right by the fireplace. There are a few spots in Lubbock with premier martinis, and this is one of those places. Keep an eye out for their Martini Trio – think mini-martini flight! We recommend the Stellapolitan! They also have beers, wines, and other Stella drink favorites. With the dim lighting and sitting in plush comfy chairs, we settled in for a long while. If you have yet to check out Stella’s, put it on your shortlist.
