Qdoba Mexican Grill

Fast Food Mexican

5017 Milwaukee, Suite 300

If you aren’t sure what to expect, think Chipotle. I hate to make the comparison, but they both serve up southwestern type tacos, burritos, and quesadillas.

Our first experience was a good one. The space is a decent size with several tables and booths to meet your needs. When you first walk in you can grab a paper menu or just take a look at the display with your options. You order at the counter through a line. The whole concept is build your own. Your options are white vs wheat, pico de gallo salsa vs roasted corn salsa vs salsa verde vs fiery habanero, black vs pinto beans, etc. Next up: cilantro rice? Guacamole? Veggies? Chicken or Beef?  You can make your burrito, quesadilla, tacos, or bowl as healthy as you would like.  You can also pick from their menu of signature recipes.

My preference was a wheat burrito with cheese, chicken, cilantro rice, and the mild salsa on the side. I also grabbed some chips, queso, and a soft drink. Qdoba has one one of those fancy touch screen soda fountains. The queso was probably my favorite part of the whole meal. It tasted a bit like broccoli and cheese soup, but there was something that really drew me to it.

Compared to other southwestern/Mexican spots, Qdobas prices are great! I got a burrito, chips, salsa, and a drink for about $8.

Make sure to a grab a rewards card. You will get free chips and salsa, birthday food, and free entrees. Another great feature of Qdoba is the online ordering system. Choose exactly what you want and pick it up when you are ready. Another great addition to Lubbock!

We ate there on Saturday. It was really good. Other than the cashier dropping my credit card behind the counter and taking 5 people to finally get to it

It is very good. They have many more options to choose from than either Chipotle or Freebirds. I have not had to wait the few times I’ve been there. I don’t understand why a lot of these new businesses, especially restaurants, don’t bombard the public with advertising and promotional items to get consumers in the door. Businesses must be “built”, and you can’t rely on “word of mouth”.

One of my fav. Quick meals…. Dallas, Denver and Scottsdale locations have never disappointed. You also get more for your $$ than at the other places mentioned. They have a mango salsa that is so yummy with the chicken..
