Heff’s started out in Abilene by the Heffernan family. They began cooking burgers in a convenience store in Potosi, TX in 2009. After a terrible car accident left their son paralyzed in 2004, Brenda Heffernan wanted to give her family something that they could do together with love… cooking. The restaurant now has ten locations across Texas, with more coming soon. (They are even opening in Pakistan… yes, you read that correctly. More here.) Their burgers are voted the best burgers in every town they’ve opened a restaurant in so far.
All of their burgers are 1/2 pound patties and made fresh to order. I tried the Sourdough Burger on my first visit — it was excellent! The bun was just the right amount of sweet. The Bucket Burger is one of their most popular: cheese, bacon, grilled onions, jalapenos, and mushrooms on a jalapeno bun. If burgers aren’t your thing, then try out chicken strips, steak fingers, a BLT, a grilled cheese, or a grilled chicken sandwich. The fries are home-style, hand-cut and delicious! Don’t forget the Heff’s Sauce: a signature sauce with an array of spices. Milkshakes and floats are made with Blue Bell ice cream.
