It is amazing how many different holiday traditions people celebrate right here in Lubbock. My family likes to attend events in Lubbock (Santa Land, carnivals, Polar Express, looking at Christmas lights, etc…) and one of our favorites is The Nutcracker put on by Ballet Lubbock. On Saturday afternoon, my group plans to get all dressed up, have a nice lunch, and then go to the show. The tickets are selling fast, so make sure to get yours soon!
The Nutcracker is based on the story “The Nutcracker and the King of Mice” written by E.T.A. Hoffman. The first Nutcracker Ballet premiered at the Mariinksy Theater in St. Petersburg in 1892. It was not premiered in the USA until 1944 in San Francisco. It is the story of a young German girl who dreams of a Nutcracker prince and battle against a Mouse King with seven heads. You will visit the Land of Snow and the Land of Sweets in your journey through the Nutcracker.
As many know, the part of Mother Ginger is always a fun highlight each season. Some notable Mother Gingers for this year include: Tonja Hagy-Valdine (LHUCA), Tedd Mitchell (TTUHSC President), and Mayor Glen Robertson.
