The college semester is about to begin and thousands of students are filtering back into Lubbock. This weekend is move in weekend (and tax free weekend) so there will be a significant spike in people in town. Restaurants and shopping centers will be packed, so I want to share a place that is a little off the path and is not a mainstream restaurant.  Many of you Lubbockites probably know about this place, but I want to share with you my favorite Thai restaurant is town, Thai Pepper.

Oddly enough I am not a fan of Thai or Asian food, but once I was introduced to Thai Pepper I was hooked. The restaurant is very close to campus and was a good price to fit my small budget. All of the food is custom made, so for any of you with special diets (gluten free, vegetarian) there are several options on and off the menu. The menu consists of typical options ranging from chicken, rice, and pad Thai. I personally LOVE the chicken noodle soup. Imagine a giant bowl of Thai spiced noodles with cilantro and broccoli, yum! You are also served wonton chips and sweet chili sauce for your appetizer.

The food really is great. If you are interested in any other reviews, click here.  The meat and vegetables are fresh and give the food an excellent taste. Thai Pepper is a staple of Lubbock and has been around for quite some time. It is good place to take family and friends without spending a lot of money or eating at the typical chain restaurants.

We generally don’t post a lot about restaurants, but I felt like Thai Pepper deserved a little love this week. Go try it and let us know how you liked it!

Welcome all students, parents, and shoppers!

This is an excellent restaurant. It can get very crowded during the week at lunch, though so go early. If you like Thai food, then there at two other Thai restaurants in town and you will be surprised to know they all have a connection. The Thai Pepper is owned by the former chef of The Thai Restaurant on 19th Street (past University Ave) and that is owned by the brother of the owner of the Thai Thai Restaurant on 50th Street (near Slide Ave). You may be interested to know that there was another Thai Restaurant on Slide at one time (many years ago) that was owned by the father of the two brothers that own the Thai Thai on 50th Street and the Thai Restaurant on 19th Street. Just a little trivia for you. Thaey are all very good. I know there are others, but these three are all connected and although they vary a bit, they are all very very good!
