One day I was driving down 50th St and stumbled upon the Choc’late Mousse Pie Bar. I decided to give it a try. I was a little hesitant, considering it wasn’t the typical dessert option of ice cream, brownies, cake, cupcakes, etc. The 1940’s music playing amidst the soft chatter of patrons perched on plush couches and chairs eased my uncertain mind.
I ordered a Piewich ($4.25) with cookies and cream filling between two honey graham crackers. Yum-o! Once I took one bite of my treat, pie filling instantly became my new favorite dessert. The Choc’late Mousse gives Lubbock a refreshing and welcomed take on a new type of delicious treat.
The menu names of the treats are almost as cute as their presentation – piewich, piebite, pietini, piefait… you can even get a pie flight if you are looking for variety! The Choc’late Mousse takes pride in staying clean and neat. I was impressed with how carefully they handled the bowls of filling. It is a small detail, but it is great to see a business that puts quality as a priority!
In my first draft of this post, I was hoping that they would have a rewards type system using a punch card. Lo and behold, I logged onto Facebook yesterday and saw that they are now starting up a punch card program! I’ve been so many times, I would have definitely earned a freebie by now. However, I certainly don’t mind racking up punches by going back again and again and again and again…
The owner, Carson McCabe, is a Texas Tech graduate and has really created something special. Make sure to check them out on Facebook for daily menu items and specials!
